Attended for my sons wedding. The staff all made it such a perfect day. They even gave us sunshine ☀️
The food was outstanding. The setting is beautiful with amazing views.
The room could have been better. So cramped, the bed was tight to the walls with not even a headboard, couldn’t open the windows and the tv didn’t work.
I held a party lunch for my 70th birthday at Highfield Park mid-November. Everything was fine except for being 70. Some of my guests joined us for dinner the previous evening and stayed overnight. We had a very pleasant spacious room in the main building. The dinner was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was also very good. The lunch party started at 12 in the Wellington room with spillover into the bar which is directly accessible from the room. Guests (there were 40 of us) gradually moved over to the bar and most stayed until about 6 pm! The canapés and fork buffet were excellent. Even the weather was fantastic so we could enjoy the lovely view and have a stroll round the grounds and the old church next to the venue in the morning. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. A special thankyou to Zoe who was very helpful in helping me decide what I wanted for the party and made sure everything was right for us, Rob who was very friendly and helpful in the room and at the bar and restaurant and a couple of other people whose names I can't remember (sorry!).
We paid £120 per night for a 2 night stay, including breakfast. We were attending a wedding. The wedding arrangements were good, food ok. Breakfast was fine.
But the room was pitiful, no view whatsoever, cramped and bed against the wall. Meaning if you got up in the night, the other person had to get up to or climb over them. (See pictures). Very disappointed in the room.
The hotel is made up of the main building and Fir tree house, the annex.
My room was in the annex. I have stayed in many hotels over the years and I have never experienced a room as small as the one I had.
I can now relate with Harry Potter's room under the stairs!
There is more than one small room, some on the first floor are in the room and have sloping ceilings.
The food menu was not massive but had a good selection. The food was good, but the restaurant menu food was a little on the stingy side.
The location is in the middle of no where and is frequently used as a wedding venue.
There is lots of parking available.
It was nice to stay there.
We didn't like walk in darkness between our room pavilion and main building.
This route need more lights
Rooms in the Fir Centre are hard to locate, no direction signs that I could see.
The Room small but comfortable, ideal for one person. Bank Holiday breakfast time extended until 10am which was nice.
The hooving at outside my door before 8:30am, followed by fire alarm at 9:45am. Made me put the Don't Disturb sign on the door and within 5 mins I get a service staff knocking on my door wanting to clear my room at 09:50 (Checkout was until 11am) shame. I would stay again 🤞
Thank you for replying to my review, I forgot to mention the showers were lovely, hot and easy to use.
Had our wedding here on Saturday and couldn't be happier with the venue, staff and location of this beautiful place!
Highly recommended and had great feedback from majority of our guests about the stunning venue.
Had a wonderful afternoon tea, the food was lovely and all fresh. The scone was lovely and warm with enough food for both of us. The best part though was the attention you recieve and Hannah and Victoria were the best. Will be coming back
